Toll road service provider Jasa Marga reported that 111,272 vehicles have already left Jakarta for homecoming (mudik) ten days before Eid commences.
In Jakarta, thus far, traffic has been predominantly distributed through two toll gates. Jasa Marga monitored that 80,816 vehicles have passed through the Cengkareng toll gate. Meanwhile, the transaction traffic volume at the Benda Utama toll gate encompassed 30,456 vehicles.
Meanwhile, in the West Java region, the recent transaction traffic volume has reached 134,724 vehicles, reflecting a 1.98% increase compared to the normal volume of 132,113 vehicles. As many as 33,974 vehicles have headed to Rancaekek, Garut, and surrounding areas via the Cileunyi toll gate. In addition, 38,142 vehicles have headed to Bandung via the Pasteur toll gate.
Looking at this relatively early homecoming traffic movement, Jasa Marga implored the public to be cautious during their commutes and journeys.
“Jasa Marga urges the public to prepare themselves before travelling by ensuring that the vehicle is ready to go, the driver is in prime condition, the fuel is sufficient, as well as the e-toll balance for a comfortable trip,” said Widiyatmiko Nursejati, Senior General Manager of Jasa Marga Metropolitan Toll Road Regional Division Plaza Tol Cililitan Jakarta, in a written statement to the press on Saturday, 22nd of March.
Jasa Marga also appealed to road users to only use one e-toll card for payments on toll roads with a closed transaction system, such as the Cipularang and Padaleunyi Toll Roads, as well as the JORR II Toll Road.
“You may find the most updated information about traffic engineering, such as contra flow on toll roads, by accessing Jasa Marga’s official information channel, the Travoy application, [our] website, or Jasa Marga’s 24-hour one call centre at 14080,” Nursejati added.
Additionally, The Head of the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General of Police Agus Suryo Nugroho, estimated that the homecoming flow will kick into high gear at the beginning of this week. This follows the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy implemented by the government in the week preceding Eid.
Meanwhile, the odd-even system for the 2025 Eid homecoming flow will be in effect starting Thursday, 27th of March, at 2 PM Jakarta time, until Sunday, 30th of March, at midnight. Its implementation covers the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road (KM 47) to the Semarang-Batang toll road (KM 414), as well as the Tangerang-Merak toll road (KM 31 to KM 98).
“Because there is a government policy that has started earlier — about WFA in the [pre-Eid] timeline — it is estimated that the homecoming will unravel from the beginning [of this week],” remarked Nugroho, as quoted from a written statement received by the press on Monday, 24th of March.
