The Indonesian government has raised passport application fees for documents with a validity of up to 10 years, set to take effect 60 days after the issuance of Government Regulation Number 45 of 2024.

The Indonesian government has officially announced an increase in passport application fees for a maximum validity period of 10 years, as stipulated in Government Regulation (PP) Number 45 of 2024 concerning Types and Tariffs for Non-Tax State Revenue (Penerimaan Negara Bukan Pajak or PNBP) at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. This news first surfaced on social media via the X account @sir_amirsyarif, who stated, “Ehm, passport application fees will soon increase, guys,” on Wednesday, the 23rd of October.

The regulation was signed by President Joko Widodo on Friday, the 18th of October, precisely two days before he stepped down from office.

Article 1 Paragraph 1 Letter (c) of PP Number 45 of 2024 states that non-tax state revenues applicable to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights include revenues from immigration services. The new rates will come into effect 60 days after the regulation is enacted, in accordance with Article 13 which states that “this Government Regulation comes into effect 60 days from the date of enactment”.

The regulation outlines that immigration services, particularly related to travel documents of the Republic of Indonesia, are divided into seven types of services with updated rates. The following are the details of the new rates that will apply:

  • Non-electronic ordinary passport with a maximum validity of 5 years: Rp350,000 per application;
  • Non-electronic ordinary passport with a maximum validity of 10 years: Rp650,000 per application;
  • Electronic ordinary passport with a maximum validity of 5 years: Rp650,000 per application;
  • Electronic ordinary passport with a maximum validity of 10 years: Rp950,000 per application;
  • Travel document in lieu of a passport for Indonesian citizens: Rp100,000 per application;
  • Travel document in lieu of a passport for foreigners: Rp150,000 per application;
  • Passport expediting service, completed on the same day: Rp1,000,000 per application.
