Tourism Ministry and Blue Bird Join Hands to Promote Indonesia

The “Wonderful Indonesia” national tourism campaign will now be promoted by Blue Bird taxis following the company’s cooperation agreement with the Tourism Ministry.

Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, who attended Monday’s signing event in Jakarta, said that taxi companies were very important to tourism, as they communicate directly with tourists and often provide first impressions of the country to foreign visitors.

“After BlueBird becomes the official partner of Visit Indonesia, we are hoping that the drivers will act as [tourism] service ambassadors for passengers,” Arief said on Monday as quoted by kompas.com.

PT Blue Bird director Andre Djokosoetono said the company’s 20,000-strong taxi fleet across 18 cities and 10,000 Big Bird buses would be coordinated to promote Indonesian tourism.

He added that training for drivers and the “Wonderful Indonesia” logo would be applied to taxis in Jakarta first, and then in the 17 other cities of its operations.
