Indonesia Marriott International Properties Debuted Book Donation to Support Mobile Library Programme

Debuting a new CSR programme this year, 11 Marriott International hotels in Indonesia are joining forces to raise awareness about education by donating 1,976 books for the Mobile Library Programme operated by Yayasan Emmanuel.

Since its inception in 2007, The Mobile Library Programme by Yayasan Emmanuel has been commited to providing access to books and reading materials to disadvantaged children and families in Jakarta and the surrounding cities. The aim is to improve literacy and instill a love of reading at a young age. Up to now, the Mobile Library Programme has over 6,200 donated books which it provides to thousands of children in the Bogor, Greater Bogor, and Jakarta areas via trucks with a specially retrofitted cargo area. Since inception, the programme has served over 115,100 children and parents.

Indonesia Marriott International Properties support Mobile Library Programme

A symbolic ceremonial event, in which a handover of the books will be made to representatives from Yayasan Emmanuel, was held on 28th November 2019 at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place. Besides the handover of the books, guests were also treated to a performance from the children from the Mobile Library Programme from Rancabungur, Bogor.

As a company, Marriott International’s under Serve 360 – Doing Good in Every Direction (Nurture, Sustain, Empower, Welcome) – the Book Donation initiative under “Nurture our world” is committed to the vitality of children and to provide support to a select group of non-profit organisations that lead the way in supporting children around the world.
