Who’s the fastest football player in the world? If your answer is Argentine superstar footballer Lionel Messi or Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo, you might want to think again.
A video has gone viral this week of Indonesian footballer Terens Puhiri displaying dramatic pace as he sprints from his own half to latch onto a loose ball, dribble past the keeper before tapping the ball into the opposition net – all in less than 10 seconds!
The video of the 21-year-old’s goal has been shared by netizens all over the world on Twitter and Instagram. Some have even uploaded the video onto Youtube and compared it with a similar goal by the world’s second most expensive player Gareth Bale, who was apparently a few seconds slower than Terens in his solo run.
The videos have garnered comments by football lovers expressing amazement at his electric speed and some speculating whether he may be the fastest player in the world. A few, however, have questioned the video’s validity, suggesting that it may have been sped up, with one meticulous observer in particular pointing at the suspiciously quick movement of the linesman at the near side to support his argument.
