In celebration of World Environmental Education Day, Ascott Regional Jabotabek reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and community empowerment.

This initiative was conducted by organising an educational and action-oriented environmental programme at Trilogi University, in collaboration with Jakarta Berkebun and Trilogi Berkebun, to bring together experts, academics, and community members to promote environmental awareness through practical action.

The programme brought together representatives from more than 20 properties under The Ascott Limited portfolio, including Ascott, Citadines, Oakwood, Somerset, Harris, Vertu, Yello, Pesona Alam, and The Botanica Sanctuary. This collective participation reflected a strong spirit of collaboration and shared responsibility in building a more sustainable future.

Reza Syah Putra, Corp-Director of Operations Excellence, said, “This collaboration is truly meaningful in celebrating World Environmental Education Day. We believe that by working together with like-minded partners, we can inspire positive behavioural change and contribute to creating a more sustainable future for the next generation. We extend our sincere appreciation to all parties who took part in making this initiative impactful.”

The event began with an interactive environmental education session led by urban farming and agriculture experts from Trilogi University. Participants gained valuable insights into the importance of urban farming, including plant cultivation techniques, maintenance processes, and sustainable harvesting methods. The educational session was followed by a hands-on tree-planting activity, during which participants were guided by environmental facilitator Dr Ahmad Rifqi Fauzi, S.P., M.Si (Expert Team at the Centre for Urban Agriculture Studies) on proper planting techniques to support long-term growth and ecological benefits. As part of this activity, participants planted avocado trees, symbolising sustainability, nourishment, and long-term environmental stewardship.

As a symbol of long-term commitment, an Ascott Cares signboard was installed at the location. The signboard represents Ascott’s dedication to environmental sustainability, acknowledges collaborative efforts with community partners, and serves as a lasting reminder of the company’s contribution to urban farming and environmental education initiatives.

The programme was aligned with Ascott Cares, particularly its Environment and Community pillars, underscoring Ascott’s ongoing dedication to creating positive and long-term impact through education, collaboration, and sustainable practices.
