Gili Islands, Bali Among Best Bargain Beaches In the World

Fans of Indonesia’s beaches have had their suspicions confirmed after a worldwide ‘Beach Price Index’ found Indonesia’s beaches to be among the cheapest to visit in the world.

Travel portal TravelBird conducts the annual index based on five commonly purchased goods – sunscreen, ice cream, water, beer and lunch. Five beaches in Indonesia have been ranked among the 310 surveyed: Bali’s Nusa Lembongan, Nusa Dua and Uluwatu and Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno in the Gili Islands.

Gili Trawangan came in as the most expensive in the country at 267, with a total expenditure of the five factors at US$21.08. Gili Meno, at US$20.84, came in at 271. A visit to Nusa Lembongan will set a tourist back US$20.36 at 278 on the list. Nusa Dua and Uluwatu rank 280 and 281 respectively on the index, with a day at the beach setting visitors back US$20.27 or US$20.25, respectively.

Kristiansand Beach in Norway is the world’s most expensive beach, according to the index, with a day out costing an average US$64.61. Cua Dai Beach in Hoi An, Vietnam, is the best bargain in the world with a day out costing just US$13.18.
