The hike is relatively moderate, taking approximately 2-3 hours to reach the summit at 1,717 metres above sea level. Hikers can enjoy panoramic views of Mount Agung and the surrounding caldera.

Mount Agung is the highest point in Bali, standing at 3,031 metres, and holds significant spiritual importance in Balinese culture as it is believed to be the abode of the gods. This challenging hike is for experienced trekkers, taking about 6-7 hours to reach the summit. The trek typically begins late at night, around 11 PM to midnight, to ensure hikers reach the summit in time for sunrise. There are two alternate routes, namely the Pura Besakih Route; the longer and more difficult route starting from the Besakih Temple, known as the “Mother Temple” of Bali. Then, there is the Pasar Agung Route, a shorter but steeper route starting from the Pasar Agung Temple.
