Exploring Coastal Tourist Destinations Offering a Blend of History, Natural Beauty, and Modern Experiences at Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK).

Indonesia, as an archipelagic nation rich in natural beauty, culture, and history, has always captivated both domestic and international tourists. As a global maritime hub and a strategic trading route during the colonial era, the Nusantara (Indonesian archipelago) became a crossroads for various nations.

Reviving the glory of Batavia’s past, Amantara, a subsidiary of Agung Sedayu Group (ASG), has reintroduced Batavia PIK (phase 2), a modern tourist destination that combines the charm of colonial architecture with contemporary elements. Situated between Golf Island and Riverwalk Island, Batavia PIK offers a captivating experience with a blend of thematic concepts, history, and culture united with modernity.

Tracing Historical and Cultural Footsteps

Batavia PIK showcases colonial architecture steeped in history and culture, harmoniously blended with modern design. A visit to this destination will undoubtedly evoke nostalgia for the old city of Batavia. The destination also perfectly mirrors the town square of old Batavia. Various events are often held here, from bazaars to bustling traditional markets, attracting numerous visitors and featuring colourful stalls offering traditional Indonesian cuisine and souvenirs.

Batavia PIK is not only a place for nostalgia but also promises a unique immersive experience and serves as a centre for local creativity with the introduction of Pasar Rakjat. This market is expected to become a home for various local products from small and medium enterprises (SMEs), ranging from handicrafts and books to jewellery. Visitors can also explore themed markets like Pasar Gerabah and Pasar Buku while supporting local artisans and authors. A variety of food and beverage tenants also complement the dining experience here, including Dewata by Monsieur Spoon, Sate & Seafood Senayan, Canton 168, Orasa’s, Saigon Ngon, and many more.

Additionally, the majestic Pinisi ship, standing tall in the canal between the two islands, will present the history of the spice trade, further enriching visitors’ knowledge. Moreover, Amantara is collaborating with various art and cultural communities to prepare numerous art and cultural performances, rich with history and stories of the Nusantara, to delight visiting guests.

The wooden bridge connecting the first and second phases of Batavia PIK will remind visitors of the legendary Kota Intan Bridge. A water taxi dock is also available here, allowing visitors to enjoy a fascinating experience by cruising the canal while taking in the beautiful views of Batavia PIK.

A New Sensation: “Adventure on the Water”

On the other side of Riverwalk Island, not far from Batavia PIK (phase 2), lies an active lifestyle complex consisting of Sea-Doo Can-Am PIK, Pier 503, Mantra Club, and many more activities soon to be introduced in this area.

Sea-Doo Can-Am PIK now features its latest personal watercraft (jet ski) showroom, complete with exciting test-drive facilities and a Can-Am off-road experience, including ATV and SSV. For Sea-Doo and Can-Am owners, easy-access storage, maintenance, and repair services are also available here. Meanwhile, public water transportation services and Sea-Doo personal watercraft rentals will soon be accessible at the Ginza Beachwalk dock.

Good news also comes for sea adventure enthusiasts, as holidays to the Thousand Islands have become more convenient with the introduction of the first Sea-Doo Switch in Asia. The Sea-Doo Switch, which can accommodate 6-8 people for private island hopping activities, will be available for rental at the Land’s End dock at PIK2’s White Sand Beach. The travel time to the Thousand Islands is approximately 10 minutes to the nearest islands, such as Bidadari, Onrust, Kelor, and other nearby islands.

In addition, visitors can enjoy beach sports facilities and casual dining with friends and family. Moreover, it is located close to culinary destinations with Hawaiian and Indonesian themes, namely Aloha PIK.

With a variety of facilities and activities supporting island hopping, PIK has the potential to become the main gateway for boosting tourism from and to the Thousand Islands. In the future, the PIK area is expected to become the main hub for tourists looking to holiday in the Thousand Islands and a strategic traffic route that will further enhance the popularity of these two destinations.

Supporting the Creative Economy Industry

In addition to developing various lifestyle destinations, Amantara is highly supportive of the growth of the creative economy sector. In line with the Indonesian government’s strategy for empowering SMEs and the creative industry, the PIK2 area has become home to the 12-hectare Indonesia Design District (IDD), featuring more than 200 renowned local and international brands.

This event will serve as a prestigious platform bringing together designers and renowned brands, industry professionals, design experts, design enthusiasts, and the general public to collaborate and advance the design and architecture industry in Indonesia. With the theme “Initiate, Unite & Collaborate,” this event is expected to be a catalyst for innovation and creative collaboration in the country.

A Green Oasis in the City

In its initiative to create a green and sustainable environment, Agung Sedayu Group (ASG) has introduced open spaces, including the 60-hectare Greenbelt PIK2 and the 587-hectare Mangroves PIK2. Visitors can enjoy various outdoor activities such as jogging, cycling, stand-up paddling, relaxing in picnic tents, or cruising the river on a catamaran while watching the sunset at Greenbelt PIK2.

The development of the Greenbelt PIK area is divided into zoning systems, with the Orange Groves District being one of the mixed-use areas located in Zone 2. The Orange Groves District is divided into several phases of development, including retail, cabin, and residential areas. Embracing a modern rustic concept, Orange Groves retail has been operational since late January 2024 and has become a favourite destination for visitors looking to relax and unwind from the city’s hustle and bustle. A range of food and beverage tenants such as Osteria Gia, Paul Café, Pesta Kebun, Fillmore Coffee and Egg Hotel, and others will satisfy culinary enthusiasts. Additionally, Gaya Spa Wellness is available for visitors who want to indulge in a series of body treatments with traditional Indonesian options, from massages and hair care to saunas. Meanwhile, the cabin and residential areas are still under construction, with a target completion date of 2026. Each building here uses eco-friendly materials and is equipped with solar panels to reduce the carbon footprint.

Orange Groves is Amantara’s second green building project after Central Market PIK, which successfully earned the EDGE Advance Certificate as the first green retail building in Indonesia in May 2024.

With many attractive destinations, diverse commercial areas, and exciting events at PIK, it’s no wonder that this area has become a magnet for both local and international tourists. To facilitate access for visitors to and from the PIK area, TransJakarta bus services, the PIK2 free shuttle bus service, and the PIK2 Toll Interchange, set to be completed by early 2025, are now available.
