19 Flights Delayed due to Fire at Bali Airport

Some domestic flights have been delayed due to a fire at Ngurah Rai Airport

General Manager of state airport Angkasa Pura 1 (AP 1), Haruman Sulaksono, has confirmed that 19 domestic flights have been delayed due to a fire at Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, last night.

Haruman added that AP 1 will temporarily close for operational services in the domestic departure terminal at Ngurah Rai, as passengers were already having breathing difficulties due to the smoke on the second floor. The stranded passengers that were due to take domestic flights were directed to the international terminal through a connecting corridor, which is mostly used for connecting transit passengers from the domestic to the international terminal.

“As of 21:45 local time, 10 of the 19 delayed flights have departed,” he said. It is estimated that about 2,000 passengers were affected by the incident. The airport is expected to resume its regular services on Saturday.
