The 2023-2024 academic year has ended successfully, and Bali Island School (BIS) is ready to embrace the next one with renewed spirit.
Bali Island School (BIS) concluded the 2023-2024 academic year with outstanding achievements by our Grade 12 students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and successful leadership in innovative sustainability projects. Also, the school commences the 2024-2025 academic year with the newly refurbished Primary Years playground.
This year, Bali Island School’s graduating Grade 12 students achieved an impressive average point score of 34.73, surpassing the 2024 world average of 30 points. The highest-achieving student earned 42 points. Additionally, 30% of BIS students obtained the Bilingual Diploma, which provides them with advantages in their university programme options.
“As Head of School at Bali Island School, I am incredibly proud of our IBDP students for consistently outperforming the IBDP world average scores over numerous years. This remarkable achievement is a testament to our school community’s dedication, hard work, and excellence. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to all our staff and faculty for their invaluable contributions in making this success possible,” said Mr Mike Miller, BIS Head of School.
The Middle Years Programme students from grades 6-10 have participated in student-led projects as part of the Service as Action (SaA) subject. These projects impact the local community and the environment, highlighting our commitment to creating positive change and sustainability. Some of the projects included:
- 15 students planted five coral fragments on racks in a protected area with the help of professional divers from the Livingseas Foundation, focusing on Life below Water (UN SDG #14).
- In collaboration with Villa Kitty, students contributed to sterilising more than 45 stray cats in Gianyar, embracing the commitment of UNSDG #15 (Life on Land).
- The students provided 25 English lessons for local students in two public schools in Sanur and donated 50 books, including English dictionaries, to enhance English language skills in the community.
BIS is thrilled to announce the completion of a newly refurbished Primary Years playground this year. This spacious 21.6 metres x 7.6 metres area features a variety of play equipment, including a bright swing set, tunnel slides, wavy slides with a monkey bar and swing, a teddy bear seesaw, a double-sided tree house with a small climbing wall, and a double giant tree house with a bridge, climber, and slide. This vibrant and secure space promotes an active lifestyle and fosters friendships among our young learners. BIS is excited to see them explore and thrive in this new environment.
In addition to the playground, BIS has refurbished other areas within the school, including the canteen and the covered court.
The IBDP results and campus refurbishment demonstrate a commitment to providing a world-class education and aim to be the top choice for international families in Indonesia. BIS is proud to lead the way among IB continuum schools in Indonesia and beyond.
