No More Happy Endings for Bali Spas

The crackdown on Bali’s so-called happy ending parlours continues, with massage parlours in Legian and Denpasar the latest to be raided.

The River View Spa in Jalan Kresna, Legian, was raided by police on Wednesday, June 7, as part of the ongoing Pekat Agung Operation targeting prostitution, drugs and other vices.

Bali Police Task Force II Superintendent I Wayan Suparta said the raid was prompted by reports from the community.

“The raids come after public reports that the River View Spa is for prostitution, under the guise of the spa. During the raid we found foreigners naked with therapists,” Suparta said, as reported by Bali Tribun.

“We arrested 16 therapists from Bali and elsewhere,” he said, adding that police also confiscated cash, contraceptives and gels.

On the same afternoon in Denpasar, West Denpasar Police raided another spa on Jalan Kebo Iwa Utara, where a massage therapist was taken into custody and a soiled condom seized as evidence.
