The Indonesian Padel Association (Perkumpulan Besar Padel Indonesia or PBPI) will officially host the world’s biggest padel tournament, FIP Bronze and FIP Promises Jakarta 2026, at Rana Grounds in Mampang, South Jakarta.
The Head of International Relations of PBPI, Maximiliano Baratawidjaja, said that Indonesia has been entrusted by the International Padel Federation (Federación Internacional de Pádel or FIP) to host the FIP Bronze and FIP Promises 2026 tournaments in Jakarta. He explained that the two events are expected to attract a total of 510 participants from 31 countries, including nations across Asia and Europe. The number of participants is likely to increase due to a waiting list.
“This is the largest international padel tournament ever held in Indonesia, combining two competitions: the FIP Bronze for adults and the FIP Promises for juniors in the under-12, under-14, under-16, and under-18 age categories,” Baratawidjaja said during a press conference in Jakarta on Monday, the 6th of July.
The FIP Bronze Jakarta will commence on Wednesday, the 8th of July, 2026, while the FIP Promises Jakarta will officially begin on Thursday, the 9th of July. The competition will start with qualifying rounds for the men’s and women’s adult divisions before progressing to the main draw on Friday. The tournament will then continue with the round of 16 and quarter-finals on Saturday, followed by the semi-finals and finals on Sunday, the 12th of July.
Baratawidjaja also emphasised that the tournament is not solely for the athletes competing on court. He encouraged the wider public and Indonesian padel enthusiasts to attend Rana Grounds in person or follow the action via digital platforms as a show of support for the development of the sport in Indonesia.
“I would like to encourage the public to watch this tournament either live at the venue or via YouTube,” he said.
The Deputy Chairman of PBPI, Mochtar Sarman, welcomed the inaugural staging of these two tournaments in Jakarta. For him, this occasion is not only about competition, but also about the inspiration that can emerge when leading national and international athletes compete on the same court.
“Jakarta, as the city most affected by the rapid growth of padel, has certainly been waiting for this moment. We will have the opportunity to witness national and international athletes competing against one another,” Sarman said on the same occasion.
PBPI hopes that this international tournament will provide young Indonesian athletes with an opportunity to gain competitive experience and accumulate FIP ranking points, which are essential for developing their careers at the international level.
“We hope not only for the success of the event, but also to see Indonesian athletes achieve strong results and showcase their talents, inspiring other padel players,” Sarman added.
In addition to the FIP Bronze and FIP Promises tournaments, PBPI has also prepared its next major event, the FIP Asia Promise, which is scheduled to take place in November 2026.
