The Project Director of Jakarta E-Prix 2025, Deni Rifky Purwana, said that Jakarta E-Prix 2025, which is set to be held on the 21st of June, is not just an ordinary racing event but proof of Jakarta’s commitment as a global city.
With this upcoming racing event, Purwana hopes to establish Jakarta as a destination city where global citizens can seek entertaining experiences. He also encourages all parties to support the event by purchasing tickets and attending.
“This is not just seen as an ordinary car racing event. This is proof of Jakarta’s commitment as a global city to contribute to sustainability, the environment, and the green economy. Hence, there is a mission here—this [event] is not just a party or a race,” Purwana told the press on Tuesday, the 18th of March.
He further added, “This is not an international race; this is a world championship. This is an event for the Indonesian people—not just a party for the people of Jakarta. We should be proud that Jakarta is hosting the [event], in addition to various breakthroughs that have occurred this year [in the city].”
Jakarta E-Prix 2025 also aims to showcase the excellence and future trends of electric cars.
“This will be the first time we see what the Third-Generation Cars look like. There may be a lot of questions that arise, [such as] ‘What is the car like?’ This is a car whose acceleration, it turns out, could beat Formula 1,” Purwana remarked.
Previously, on Monday (the 17th of March), the Project Director of Formula E Operations (FEO) for Jakarta E-Prix, Gemma Roura, expressed her delight at returning to Indonesia, specifically Jakarta.
“Formula E is the youngest championship compared to the others but has a 35% audience growth. We are happy to see the development of this race, and we are very delighted to be able to return to Indonesia,” Roura told the press.
The Jakarta E-Prix is an annual race in the single-seater, electrically powered Formula E championship. Traditionally held in Jakarta, Indonesia, this event has been heralded as the first race sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) in Indonesia since the A1 GP Grand Prix of Nations race at the Sentul International Circuit in 2006, as well as the first-ever motor racing event to be administered directly by the FIA. However, its 2024 edition was not held due to the Presidential Election.
