Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ministry of Creative Economy), Irene Umar, wishes for a collaboration with Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) to create a strategic programme making the latter a window to Indonesian culture, especially for foreign tourists.
In an audience at the Sapta Pesona Building, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, the 14th of January, Umar explained that the main objective of this desired collaboration is to integrate Indonesian culture in every programme while maintaining TMII’s identity as an icon of Indonesian culture.
Furthermore, with the touch of the Creative Economy Agency, TMII is expected to become more attractive to the public while aligning 17 sub-sectors of the creative economy within an innovative thematic concept.
“This collaboration would certainly combine Indonesian culture to maintain TMII’s identity,” Umar assured.
Additionally, the Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology, Muhammad Neil El Himam, hopes that TMII can become a national icon of Indonesian branding while introducing the richness of Nusantara culture to global audiences, including foreign tourists.
“This time we have to start thinking [of turning] TMII into a National Brand of Indonesia. TMII should become a showcase based on [Indonesian] culture. With such a focus, the hope is that thanks to TMII, foreigners would be attracted to visit Indonesia,” Himam remarked.
In response to this desired collaboration, TMII’s President Director, Intan Ayu Kartika, said that both parties have agreed to establish a strategic collaboration to showcase and preserve Indonesian culture. Five main programmes have been set as priorities this year, though the details are still to be revealed.
“We will do many things. We have immediately identified what we will do this year, during which there will be five key initiatives that we have agreed on, which we will do together — between the Ministry of Creative Economy and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah,” Kartika asserted.
She continued, “We believe that the Ministry of Creative Economy and Taman Mini Indonesia Indah will form a synergy — a collaboration that is truly with the spirit of showcasing [as well as] preserving Indonesian culture.”
