Government Accelerates Fast Train for Jakarta-Bandung

The government plans for fast train of Jakarta-Bandung

The minister of State-Owned Enterprises, Erick Thohir, has asserted that the construction of the fast train for Jakarta-Banda will be accelerated so the transport can be operational by 2021.

“We have formed the taskforce for the fast train project. It is led directly by the director of PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China (KCIC), Chandra Dwiputra,” Erick said on Tuesday 5th November.
Further, Erick explained that the taskforce will meet to discuss important issues once in two weeks and a meeting regarding financial issues will be held monthly.

He said it is expected that the task force team can accelerate the operation of fast train for the route of Jakarta to Bandung so there will be no delay, like what happened to the MRT and LRT projects.

“We can support the things we can do together and anticipate if the operation of the fast train will be delayed because after Bandung, it will connect to Surabaya,” He added.

A delay in getting the fast train operational could influence the acceleration of economic growth in Indonesia, as people will spend less time on the road. Erick said that people can lose big opportunities to contribute towards economic growth if they are not supported with a fast transportation.
