Banjarmasin airport

Smog has engulfed areas near Banjarmasin’s Syamsudin Noor Airport, which is located in Banjarbaru area, South Kalimantan.

Several flights were delayed on Tuesday morning, 10th September.

A JT320 flight from Jakarta was even forced to circle the airport prior to its landing, due to the heavy smog. According to the airport’s general manager, Indah Preastuty, the minimum visibility level was not met during the heavy smog which caused delays in the departure and landing of flights. The visibility on Tuesday morning was recorded at 600 metres.

“The average delays is one hour and twenty minutes, except for the flights that were close to the hours where visibility improved,” said Indah.

The seven delayed flights were flight JT311 to Surabaya, JT321 to Jakarta, IW1394 to Balikpapan, JT521 to Yogyakarta, IN360 to Surabaya, IW1382 to Batulicin, and GA533 to Jakarta.
