Anies: Use More Bicycles in Jakarta

Anies Baswedan

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has stated that he wants to encourage the use of bicycles as a means of transport in Jakarta.

“We support the use of bicycle as transportation and not just as a sporting tool,” Anies said. The governor also said he is used to riding his bicycle for daily activities. He added that he has used his bike to explore the Velodrome, Old Town (Kota Tua), and East Flood Canal (BKT) areas in Jakarta.

“A bicycle is not a new thing for me,” said the governor, who claimed that he has been cycling since his student days at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta. He also promised to create more parking lots for bicycles in Jakarta.
