7.4 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Banten, Jakarta; Tsunami Warning Issued

A 7.4 Magnitude earthquake has shaken Banten and its surrounding areas on Friday, 2 August.

The tremor was felt in Jakarta. According to the Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysics agency, or BMKG, the epicentre was 147km southwest of Sumur, Banten at a depth of 10km. The earthquake’s duration was about 60 seconds.

The BMKG has issued a tsunami warning for Banten, Lampung, and Bengkulu.
