Jusuf Kalla with his counterpart from Argentina, Gabriela Michetti,

On Tuesday, Vice President Jusuf Kalla welcomed his counterpart from Argentina, Gabriela Michetti, at the Vice Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta.

Both parties had the opportunity to discuss trade issues, investment, and partnerships within the two countries. Argentina’s VP expects both countries to produce a sustainable agreement, which could be implemented in a designated timeline to achieve the best possible results. She also added that many Argentinian entrepreneurs are interested in South East Asian capital investments, especially in Indonesia.

Argentina is widely regarded in the field of agroindustry and infrastructure, as well as the food industry. However, VP Jusuf Kalla sais that there is still a deficit in the current trade balance between both countries.

“We are still at a deficit because we purchase Argentina’s agriculture products. We will increase our exports to that country,” Kalla added. He also mentioned that trade issues will be further emphasised by the state ministers in the cabinet in the near future.
