Three Intersections Closed in Jakarta To Help Ease Traffic

The Jakarta Transportation Agency is conducting a trial run of the closure of three intersections on Jl. Mampang Prapatan Raya, South Jakarta to ease traffic in the busy area.

The three closures are on Jl. Mampang Prapatan Raya – Jl. Mampang Prapatan 7 – Jl. Mampang Prapatan 8; Jl. Mampang Prapatan Raya – Jl. Duren Tiga Raya – Jl. Kemang Utara Utara 9; and the intersection of Jl. Mampang Prapatan Raya, Jl. Duren Bangka – Jln Duren Tiga Selatan.

The trial started on Friday night.

Agency deputy head Sigit Wijatmoko said the move was aimed at easing traffic in the area following the operation of the Mampang-Kuningan underpass.

” It is aimed at easing traffic on Jl. Buncit Raya,” Sigit said recently as quoted by kompas.com.

With the new traffic rules, motorists will have to go around the front of the Garasindo office.

With the closures, the agency has asked Kopaja to adjust the route of its bus serving Blok M-Kampung Rambutan.

However, it was reported on Saturday that some of the road separators at intersections on Jl. Mampang Prapatan Raya – Jl. Duren Tiga Raya – Jl. Kemang Utara Utara 9 had been disassembled by residents as their access to several roads had been cut off and. Residents have also complained of heavy road congestion.
