The Indonesian contingent secured two gold medals, climbing to 28th place in the medal standings for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The two gold medals were earned in different sports, namely weightlifting and rock climbing.

Indonesia’s first gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics was contributed by Veddriq Leonardo in the men’s speed rock climbing event on Thursday, the 8th of August, 2024, where he defeated Wu Peng from China with a time of 4.75 seconds.


Rizky Juniansyah secured the second gold medal in the 73-kilogram weightlifting category by successfully lifting a total of 354 kilograms—comprising a 155-kilogram snatch and a 199-kilogram clean and jerk.

Earlier, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung also earned a bronze medal for Indonesia in the women’s singles badminton event.

As of Friday, the 9th of August, 2024, Indonesia has collected three medals: two gold and one bronze. This achievement propelled Indonesia to 28th place in the 2024 Paris Olympics medal standings, just one rank below neighbouring Philippines, which has won two gold medals and two bronze medals. This is the new record for Indonesia in the past 32 years.
