The Indonesian Consulate General had confirmed that Veby Mega Indah, a Hong Kong based Indonesian journalist had been shot on Sunday during violent demonstrations in Wan Chai area. Veby had worked for Suara, an Indonesian-language newspaper in Hong Kong.

“Right now, Veby is conscious and being treated by doctors. The Consulate General will continue to accompany her while she remains in the hospital,” Ricky explained.

He also urged Indonesian citizens around Hong Kong to stay away from Causeway Bay, Wan Chai, Admiralty, and Central areas, as they are currently occupied by demonstrations.
