The Apurva Kempinski Bali has announced the Powerful Indonesia Festival 2026, an immersive tribute to the nation’s heritage and cultural diversity, presented in partnership with Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI).

Held as part of the resort’s long-standing brand campaign, Powerful Indonesia: Spice Route Legacy, the festival continues the resort’s tribute to Nusantara’s extraordinary maritime heritage—a story that extends far beyond the trading of cloves, nutmeg and other prized commodities. For centuries, the seas of the archipelago connected kingdoms, communities and distant civilisations, creating routes through which people, ideas, beliefs, knowledge, craftsmanship and cultures travelled and evolved. The campaign explores this broader legacy, celebrating the sea not simply as a trade route, but as a powerful force that shaped Indonesia’s identity and its place in the world.

Through art, gastronomy, craftsmanship, conservation and cultural encounters, Spice Route Legacy brings this living maritime heritage into contemporary experiences. The two-day programme honours Indonesia’s 81 years of independence through experiences that unite heritage, contemporary expression and the nation’s creative economy. Taking place on the 16th–17th of August 2026 at the Candi Ballroom, the festival brings together a vibrant creative market, art exhibitions, artisan talks and live demonstrations, as well as music performances, inviting guests to explore, engage with and celebrate the archipelago’s finest makers, artists and ideas.

Powerful Indonesia Festival 2026 features a range of exciting talks and exhibitions. Programme highlights include an environmental talk by Biorock Indonesia, the non-profit organisation advancing coral reef restoration and community-based marine conservation across Indonesia. The session will spotlight the pioneering work in Pemuteran, North Bali, where Biorock has helped restore marine ecosystems while supporting the local community and transforming the coastal village into a recognised model for sustainable tourism and conservation. Balinese contemporary artist Putu “PW” Winata presents an artisan talk and exhibition of his Biorock painting series, a tribute to the late I Gusti Agung Prana and Indonesia’s marine heritage, while Black Hand Gang Studio, Indonesia’s pioneering commercial printmaking studio, hosts a live demonstration exploring the craft of contemporary printmaking.

Showcasing the richness and diversity of Indonesian culture, the Powerful Indonesia Festival 2026 brings together an exciting line-up of artists, opening with a special ceremony featuring Pancer Langit, a Bali-based musical collective whose performances weave traditional instruments and vocal traditions into contemporary compositions, and Nada 1928, an ensemble dedicated to preserving Indonesia’s musical heritage through contemporary interpretations. The stage also welcomes Nyonya Ayu, whose warm vocals blend vintage Indonesian pop, classic jazz and keroncong influences, alongside dynamic DJ sessions by DJ Halim Ardie, DJ Masayu, DJ Rika Yuniorika and DJ Nicodemus, each bringing their own energy to the festival atmosphere across the two days.

Furthermore, The Apurva Kempinski Bali presents a diverse culinary showcase for guests to enjoy throughout the two-day event, featuring authentic Indonesian dishes crafted by the resort’s talented chefs and bringing the archipelago’s flavours to life alongside the festival’s celebration of art, music and craftsmanship.

The Powerful Indonesia Festival 2026 Creative Market celebrates Indonesian craftsmanship and the creative economy, with a strong focus on community impact. The market showcases design-driven products, textile heritage and sustainable craftsmanship, reflecting Indonesia’s vibrant creative sector and the resort’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, in collaboration with Bank Rakyat Indonesia’s support for the nation’s micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). Over the two days, guests can meet exhibitors and browse a curated line-up of up to 20 local artisans and home-grown brands, including TSDC Bali, Liyan Indonesia, Tenun Tinizhop, Larose, Six Scents, The Bless Shop, Tutu & Co., Griya Anyar Dewata, Indah Mutiara Lombok, Racheli Indonesia, Secret Potion, Micawork, Rosita Batik Shibori, Soloputri Indonesia, Kunang Jewelry, Sari Merta Silver, Namaste 21 Handmade and Nahdi Jewelry.

As part of the festival, The Apurva Kempinski Bali will host a special ceremonial tribute to honour Indonesia’s veterans, recognising their bravery, sacrifice and dedication to the nation. The tribute pays homage to these distinguished individuals who have shaped the country’s history through their service, reflecting the resort’s enduring gratitude and respect for those who came before.

Together with Bank Rakyat Indonesia, we invite everyone to join us at The Apurva Kempinski Bali as we celebrate Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day.”

This series of events is open to the public. Guests can experience Indonesian culture, music, art and culinary delights while supporting local talent.
