Jakarta Transportation Agency has confirmed that they have completed a study about the odd-even plate policy in Jakarta.
The regulation will soon be extended to different roads around the city.
“We are finalising the policy. It will be set tomorrow,” agency head Syafrin Liputo added.
According to Syarifin, the extension of the restricted private vehicle policy is crucial in order to improve the city’s environmental quality. Congestion has also worsened during peak hours, with many vehicles’ speeds recorded to be less than 30 kilometres per hour.
“While in fact, public transportation is available in almost every street,” he pondered. The policy is set to be extended to 16 different parts of the city, the locations of which will be announced shortly.
