Police Find 1,300 Marijuana Plants in a Field in Purwakarta

Officers from the Purwakarta and Yogyakarta Police found a 1.5-hectare marijuana field in Sukasari district, Purwakarta regency, West Java, on Sunday.

Purwakarta Police narcotics division head Adj. Comr. Heri Nurcahyo said the field was found near Bedeng village in Sukasari district.

“There were 1,300 marijuana plants in plastic bags on the field,” he said on Sunday as quoted by Antara news agency.

He said the plants were interspersed on the field with other trees and plants such as papaya trees.

He added that the existence of the field was discovered when Yogyakarta Police arrested a university student identified as AR for selling marijuana. The 22-year-old Karawang, West Java native told police about the Purwakarta field and police have since arrested two other suspects.
