AirAsia has launched direct flights between Hong Kong and Denpasar, enhancing connectivity and boosting Indonesia’s tourism sector.
On Tuesday, the 1st of October, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, in collaboration with the Bali Provincial Government, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Branch Office, and the Airport Authority Office Region IV of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, held the AirAsia Inaugural Flight event to welcome the new Hong Kong-Denpasar route.
AirAsia’s first direct flight on the Hong Kong-Denpasar route carried 180 passengers. Upon their arrival at the International Arrivals Terminal of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, the passengers of the inaugural flight were welcomed with a traditional Balinese dance performance, courtesy of the Bali Provincial Government. They were also presented with Wonderful Indonesia souvenirs.
Regarding this new route, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, stated that connectivity is crucial to increasing the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia, with direct flights from Hong Kong to Indonesia being highly anticipated.
“AirAsia flights are expected to attract more tourists from Hong Kong and overseas to Indonesia, thereby contributing to increased foreign exchange from the tourism sector and creating more jobs,” said Uno in a statement to the press on Wednesday, the 2nd of October.
AirAsia will operate daily flights using Airbus A320 aircraft. As for the flight schedule, the Hong Kong-Denpasar route departs at 06.55 local time and arrives at its destination at 11.50 local time. Meanwhile, the Denpasar-Hong Kong route departs at 00.45 local time and arrives in Hong Kong at 05.35 local time.
“We are confident that more airlines will open direct flight routes from Hong Kong in the future, considering the current trend of foreign tourists from Hong Kong. Additionally, Indonesia is a highly popular destination for tourists from Hong Kong, especially due to its natural beauty and cultural similarities,” continued Uno.
