A meaningful initiative under the Ascott CARES programme, bringing hospitality teams and locals together for Bali’s future.

To celebrate World Clean-Up Day, Ascott Bali Area came together with its associates and local community partners for a beach clean-up at Legian Beach. The activity, held on 16 September, brought together more than a hundred participants to collect bags of litter and marine debris along the coastline in a shared effort to protect Bali’s environment.

Legian Beach, a favourite destination for both locals and international visitors, has long been a symbol of Bali’s vibrant culture and natural charm. This clean-up served as a reminder of how collective action can help preserve that beauty for generations to come.

The initiative was supported by associates from 11 Ascott properties in Bali, including Citadines Berawa Beach Bali, Maison Aurelia Sanur, Bali by Preference, Harris Hotel Kuta Tuban Bali, Harris Hotel & Residence Sunset Road Bali, Harris Hotel Seminyak, Harris Hotel & Convention Denpasar Bali, Harris Hotel & Residence Riverview Kuta, Fox Hotel Jimbaran Beach Bali, Yello Hotel Kuta Beachwalk Bali, Pop! Hotel Kuta Beach Bali, and Beachwalk Residence 6. Together with local volunteers, the group worked side by side, equipped with gloves and reusable bags, to clear waste and raise awareness about responsible tourism.

Grandi Sumeitro, General Manager of Shared Services of Harris Hotel Kuta Tuban Bali, Yello Hotel Kuta Beachwalk Bali, and Beachwalk Residence 6, shared his thoughts on the initiative: “Legian is a beach so many of us love, and keeping it clean is something we all benefit from. This activity isn’t just about picking up trash—it’s about showing what can happen when we join forces as a community. Small actions, when multiplied, create a real impact.”

This clean-up is one of many activities under Ascott CARES, The Ascott Limited’s sustainability framework. With a focus on Community, Alliance, Respect, Environment, and Supply Chain, Ascott CARES drives The Ascott Limited’s efforts to provide more responsible and sustainable hospitality in the destinations where it operates.

Liza Indira, General Manager of Harris Hotel & Conventions Denpasar Bali, also added, “It was inspiring to see so many hands working together for the same purpose. Beyond the trash collected, what matters most is the message we send, that protecting Bali’s environment is everyone’s responsibility. When we act as a community, we can create lasting change.”
