Ascott Indonesia reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability by commemorating World Mangrove Day through mangrove conservation initiatives under Ascott CARES, the company’s sustainability programme.
Held in collaboration with local communities, the initiatives reflected Ascott Indonesia‘s ongoing efforts to support the preservation of Indonesia’s coastal ecosystems while encouraging greater environmental awareness through meaningful action.
In Jakarta, Ascott Indonesia, together with associates from Somerset and Pop! Hotels, marked World Mangrove Day through a mangrove conservation programme on Tidung Kecil Island. In partnership with Mangrove Jakarta, associates planted 2,000 mangrove seedlings, highlighting the importance of protecting Indonesia’s coastal ecosystems through hands-on conservation activities.
Participants began by learning about the mangrove nursery process and preparing seedlings before taking part in the planting activities. The programme continued with the monitoring of previously planted mangroves to observe their growth, followed by a beach clean-up to help maintain the surrounding coastal environment. Together, these activities underscored the importance of protecting mangrove ecosystems through both restoration and ongoing care.
