CCTV footage of a Lion Air pilot beating up a hotel clerk has recently gone viral on Facebook. The pilot was reportedly disappointed that his uniform was not ironed properly by the hotel staff.

The video, which shows the pilot walking towards the reception desk and complaining before proceeding to hit the hotel staff, has garnered over 1 million views on Facebook.

According to Lion Air, the incident took place on 30th April at a Surabaya hotel. The budget airline also stated that they have temporarily suspended the pilot. According to Lion Air spokesman Danang Mandala Prihantoro, the airline is currently in the process of gathering information for further investigation about the case.

“If the pilot is found guilty after the investigation, Lion Air will apply firm sanctions by dismissing him from the company,” Danang stated. The video comes on top of a series of bad publicity for Lion Air, which has long suffered a low safety track record.

Last year, Lion Air Boeing 737 MAX crashed into the sea shortly after takeoff from Cengkareng Airport, killing all 189 people passengers aboard.
