5.7 Magnitude Earthquake Shook Sulawesi Early this Morning

The strong quake lasted for 3 seconds

A 5.7 magnitude earthquake is reported to have jolted Banggai Islands in Central Sulawesi on 26th April, at 5 am Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

Its epicentre was located in 1.91 degrees south latitude and 122.48 degrees east longitude, at a depth of 10 kilometers. No potential tsunami warnings have been issued so far.

According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the strong quake lasted for 3 seconds. Some residents were seen escaping from buildings and fleeing their homes. No damage has been reported and no casualties have been recorded.
