The Directorate General of Immigration under the Indonesian Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Affairs plans to raise the Visa on Arrival (VoA) fee from the current Rp500,000 to a range of Rp750,000 to Rp1 million.
The Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, stated that the tariff adjustment is being implemented because the current VoA fee is considered too low. Moreover, under this new scheme, visa issuance fees will vary based on the location where the foreign national submits their application.
Foreign nationals who arrange for an e-VoA from their home country will be charged a fee of Rp750,000, whereas those who obtain a VoA only after arriving in Indonesia will be charged Rp1 million.
“As we know, the fee for our visa on arrival is only Rp500,000. Given the fluctuations in the exchange rate, we consider this amount to be very low, and therefore, an adjustment is necessary,” Marantoko said during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday, the 12th of August.
Marantoko added that the difference in fees is not solely about state revenue. Immigration, he noted, aims to shift the visa application process to the pre-departure stage so that the arrival of foreign nationals at the airport is smoother and does not cause congestion at service points.
“What is the purpose? To prevent the buildup at the airport,” he said.
The Directorate General of Immigration recorded visa issuance figures for the period of January to July 2026 as follows: 4,879,160 e-visas; 4,323,319 electronic Visas on Arrival (e-VOA); 53,347 Limited Stay Visas (ITAS); 440,807 Visit Visas (ITK); 131 Golden Visas; 61,687 visa-free entries; and 53 “Global Citizen of Indonesia” visas.
Meanwhile, regarding residence permits, 5,082,786 Visit Stay Permits (ITK) were issued—a 24.7% increase from the previous year’s 4,075,486; 145,761 Limited Stay Permits (ITAS) were issued—a 26.4% increase from the previous year’s 115,252; and 4,120 Permanent Stay Permits (ITAP) were issued—a 45.5% increase from the 2,830 issued during the same period the previous year.
