Overweight Police in East Java Undergo Weight Loss Training

Overweight officers to go through a weight loss programme.

The State Police Academy (SPN) in Mojokerto, East Java, has ordered overweight officers to go through a weight loss programme.

For 10 days the officers will undergo a variety of activities designed to reduce their body fat.

Fifty policemen from East Java police are currently enrolled in the programme, which runs from 15 – 26th July. “It’s a programme to lower your body mass index (BMI) for overweight and obese personnel,” Police spokesman Senior Commander Frans Barung Mangera said.

The weight loss scheme places emphasis on activities to reduce body fat such as running, long marches, aerobics, gymnastics, swimming, and other forms of sports. Aside from physical activities, the policemen also receive psychological counselling.

“With appropriate guidance from nutritionists and medical experts provided by East Java Police, dietary habits and menus are adjusted to help reach the goal of this programme,” Frans added. The programme aims to equip police officers with a healthier physique in order to provide better services to the public.
