Indonesia is set to receive at least 1,500 Chinese tourists on the resort island of Bali for the lunar new year next month, according to a Tourism Ministry official. The figures were shared by Chinese officials with the Tourism Ministry on its recent visit to China.
The ministry’s Assistant Deputy Minister for Asia Pacific Marketing Development, Vincensius Jemadu, said that the huge interest in Bali as a holiday destination for Chinese New Year celebrations was largely based on the recommendation by the Chinese Consulate-General in Bali.
The Consulate-General has been proactive in its recommendation of Bali as a place to celebrate the Chinese New Year this year and has even helped the island in preparing the celebration, which plans to feature at least 20 performers from China plus several others from Indonesia.
“We would also [like to] prepare a gala dinner for those tourists during the event,” Jemadu said, as quoted by xinhuanet.
Jemadu added that the ministry has made efforts to promote Bali as a Chinese New Year destination by placing advertisements in various mainstream media as well as online media in China.
Chinese tourists have been an integral part in Bali’s success as a tourism destination with as many as 1.43 million Chinese tourists visiting the island in the first 11 months of 2017.
