The Singapore Tourism Board, Garuda Indonesia, and Changi Airport Group have signed a partnership to boost tourism, expand flight routes, and introduce new travel offerings, reinforcing Singapore’s position as a key destination for Indonesian travellers.
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has officially signed a tripartite Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with Garuda Indonesia and Changi Airport Group (CAG). The one-year partnership aims to enhance connectivity and promote two-way tourism between Singapore and Indonesia. The MOC was signed by Terrence Voon, Executive Director for Southeast Asia at STB; Peh Ke-Wei, Vice President of Market Development at CAG, and; Naufal Aflah, Corporate and Channel Group Head at Garuda Indonesia.
The announcement coincided with the release of Singapore’s 2024 tourism performance report and its strategic focus for 2025, presented at a press conference at Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta on Tuesday, the 11th of February.
“This inaugural tripartite partnership reflects the importance of tourism and air connectivity between our two countries, as well as our commitment to collaboration for mutual benefit,” said Voon.
Meanwhile, Ke-Wei expressed his enthusiasm about partnering with STB and Garuda Indonesia.
“In 2024, Indonesia remained one of our top markets, recording more than 7.3 million air passenger movements between Singapore and Indonesia,” he stated.
The agreement includes various initiatives, such as joint marketing campaigns and new travel offerings, including Fly-Cruise packages to Singapore. Currently, Garuda Indonesia operates 55 weekly flights to Singapore, including 41 flights from Jakarta, as well as services from Bali and Surabaya. The partnership also reinforces Singapore’s status as a prime destination for Indonesian tourists, particularly in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) and cruise sectors.
Additionally, the collaboration between STB, Garuda Indonesia, and CAG includes expanding access to Singapore from cities beyond Jakarta, with new routes being introduced from Padang (West Sumatra) and Kertajati (West Java) by Garuda Indonesia.
Ade R. Susardi, Commercial Director at Garuda Indonesia, stated that the partnership affirms a shared commitment to revitalising regional travel as well as strengthening tourism and cultural ties between the two neighbouring countries.
“Through this collaboration, we hope to provide travellers with seamless travel options and experiences that celebrate the uniqueness of both destinations,” Susardi explained.
