The General Election Commission (KPU) has revealed that as many as 101 foreign citizens were listed in the permanent voter list for the upcoming April 17 election. KPU Chairman Arief Budiman mentioned that the foreigners listed are spread across 17 regions. He further stated that KPU has managed to instantly blacklist the names in different areas of the country, with the exception of Papua.
At the end of last month, a Chinese National, who went by the name of Guohui Chen was found to have possessed an Indonesian electronic ID card (e-KTP) and was listed as one of the voters in Cianjur, West Java. The KPU later urged The Home Affairs Ministry to hand them data of all foreign nationals listed in the voter list. The Ministry’s Population and Civil Registry (Dukcapil) soon reported its findings to the KPU and the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu). It was found that there were 101 foreigners from 29 different countries listed in the permanent voter list. The foreigners reside in 17 different provinces of Indonesia.
