Trans Sumatra toll road

Bintang Perbowo, President Director of Hutama Karya, has confirmed that the state-owned construction firm will inaugurate two new sections of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road by the end of 2019.

The two toll sections are Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung, which is 185 kilometres in length, and the 131-kilometer Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road.

“President Jokowi, in September, is scheduled to inaugurate the Terbanggi Besar-Pematang Panggang-Kayu Agung section which will connect Bakauheni and Palembang,” said Bintang.

The president has previously officially opened the 140km Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar toll road. The remaining 33km is managed by another company and will be operational by the end of this year.

The Bakauheni-Palembang toll road, which covers 365km will slash travel time to only 4 hours, compared to the usual 10-12 hours. Meanwhile, the Pekanbaru-Dumai toll road section is set to begin operations by the end of November 2019.
