Who is Sander Looijen?
I’m someone who believes in staying active and embracing a healthy lifestyle. I’m passionate about fitness, especially through water polo, CrossFit, and open-water swimming. My family and I are really excited to call Bali our new home, and I’m looking forward to bringing that same energy into my role at The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali.
Welcome back to Indonesia! What made you decide to move to Bali with your family? How’s the adjustment going?
Thank you! Moving to Bali has been a dream come true for me and my family. The transition has gone really smoothly, and we’re absolutely loving the warm hospitality and diving into Bali’s rich culture. Being in such a global destination is exciting, and we’re thrilled to be part of this amazing community.

The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali has been an iconic destination for over 30 years, famous for its signature Heavenly Beds and focus on wellness. We’re continuing that tradition with exciting updates, like our newly revamped Premium Rooms while strengthening our commitment to being a top wellness destination through new events and experiences.
Congrats again on your appointment as General Manager of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali! Can you share some of your plans for the resort?
Thank you! As the new GM, my focus is on enhancing what we already do best. We’re putting a big emphasis on wellness and introducing some exciting updates, all aimed at making sure every guest has an exceptional experience while keeping us at the forefront of hospitality.
You’ve received awards as General Manager and Events Leader at your previous posts. What lessons or ideas are you bringing with you to The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali?
In my experience, it’s simple: happy staff equals happy guests. I’m bringing that philosophy to The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali because I believe that fostering a positive, supportive work environment is key to our continued success.
You’re known for being ahead of the curve with culinary trends and F&B concepts. Should guests expect anything unique at the resort?
Absolutely! We’re developing some really exciting culinary experiences that are sure to surprise and delight our guests. Expect some out-of-the-box ideas that will elevate our food and beverage offerings to the next level.
The Bali International Convention Centre (BICC) is a big part of the resort, known for hosting major events and summits. How do you plan to keep BICC as the go-to spot for these kinds of gatherings?
The BICC is a cornerstone for events in Bali, and we aim to keep it that way by focusing on top-tier planning and execution. We’re committed to upholding the high standards that have made it the island’s pride for major events.
