A travelling exhibition across Bandung, Semarang and Bali invites guests to discover why protecting Indonesia’s national bird means protecting Java’s forests and future.

Padma Hotels has partnered with Djarum Foundation to present a travelling exhibition dedicated to the conservation of the Javan Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus bartelsi), Indonesia’s national bird. Hosted across three Padma Hotels properties, the exhibition aims to raise public awareness of one of the country’s most iconic yet threatened species while inspiring collective action to protect Java’s remaining forests.

Running from the 28th of July to the 23rd of August 2026, the exhibition showcases the remarkable story of the Javan Hawk-Eagle through immersive visual displays, educational panels and compelling conservation stories. It highlights the species’ ongoing conservation journey, from extensive population and habitat surveys conducted across the island of Java to the current development of the Javan Hawk-Eagle Conservation Strategy and Action Plan (Strategi dan Rencana Aksi Konservasi or SRAK).

This milestone reflects a collaborative effort involving researchers, conservationists, government institutions, the private sector and local communities to safeguard the species and its rapidly diminishing forest habitat.

The Javan Hawk-Eagle is far more than a national symbol. As an apex predator found only on the island of Java, its presence reflects the health of the island’s remaining tropical forests. These forests not only sustain extraordinary biodiversity but also provide clean water, climate resilience and essential ecosystem services for millions of people. Today, however, the species continues to face mounting threats from habitat loss, forest fragmentation, the illegal wildlife trade and human disturbance.

By hosting the travelling exhibition, Padma Hotels hopes to introduce thousands of guests and visitors to the story of the Javan Hawk-Eagle while encouraging a greater appreciation of Indonesia’s natural heritage and the importance of protecting the ecosystems that support both wildlife and local communities.

The travelling exhibition will be presented at:

  • Padma Hotel Bandung (28th of July – 2nd of August 2026)
  • Padma Hotel Semarang (4th – 9th of August 2026)
  • Padma Resort Legian, Bali (18th – 23rd of August 2026)

As a hospitality brand inspired by Indonesia’s natural beauty and cultural heritage, Padma Hotels believes that sustainability extends beyond responsible operations. Through partnerships that educate and inspire, the brand is committed to supporting initiatives that foster environmental awareness and contribute to the preservation of Indonesia’s rich biodiversity.
