Jakarta will introduce traffic restrictions around the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout from 10 PM on Takbiran Night, while TransJakarta services continue operating to accommodate public mobility during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

The Jakarta Provincial Government will hold a Car-Free Night at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout in the Thamrin area starting at 10 PM during the Takbiran evening. The initiative forms part of the innovative “Mudik ke Jakarta” programme for this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

“This will be the culmination of various religious celebrations in Jakarta,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung after chairing a Plenary Leadership Meeting on Tuesday, the 10th of March.

Anung explained that the initiative was introduced to provide the public with a unique holiday experience. To ensure smooth traffic management during the Takbiran evening, the regional government will impose strict restrictions on private vehicle access on certain roads.

However, those wishing to travel to the Thamrin–Sudirman area can use TransJakarta services, which operate 24 hours a day across 14 BRT corridors. The Jakarta Provincial Government will also inaugurate a new TransJabodetabek route connecting Blok M and Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Thursday, the 12th of March, as part of efforts to strengthen public transport connectivity.

“So private vehicles will not be permitted to enter, but TransJakarta will continue operating so people can still carry out their activities, even though it will already be 10 PM,” said Anung.

In addition, the Jakarta Provincial Government plans to organise a series of events to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, including a Hijab Fashion Show in Tanah Abang on Thursday, as well as a Bedug Festival and torch procession on the 19th of March.

“For those returning to Jakarta, we are also holding several activities. On the 12th of March, there will be a Hijab Fashion Show in Tanah Abang. Then on the 19th, there will be a nighttime Bedug Festival and a torch procession,” continued Anung.

The Jakarta Provincial Government is also offering discounts of up to 80% at shopping centres for those wishing to shop during the festive period.

“Several shopping centres will offer discounts of up to 80%. There will be Ramadan sales and various promotions running from the 4th to the 31st of March,” added Anung.
