The Directorate General of Immigration inspected 229 foreign nationals during Operation Wirawaspada, conducted from the 3rd to the 5th of October 2025 across the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) areas. Of these, 196 were suspected of various immigration violations.
Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, stated that the majority of violations uncovered involved the misuse of residence permits.
“Of the 229 foreign nationals apprehended, we found that most violations were related to the misuse of residence permits. This accounted for 99 cases, or approximately 43.2% of the total,” Yusman said in a statement to the press on Wednesday, 8th of October.
In addition to residence permit misuse, officers also recorded 20 cases of overstaying, 11 cases involving fictitious investors, and nine cases of fictitious sponsors. Nigerian nationals represented the largest group arrested, totalling 82 individuals or 35.8% of the total. They were followed by Indian nationals (28) and Spanish nationals (21).

Operation Wirawaspada in Jabodetabek adds to a growing list of enforcement actions undertaken by the Directorate General of Immigration throughout 2025. Earlier operations resulted in the detention of 312 foreign nationals in Bali and North Maluku. In addition to routine surveillance, Immigration authorities are intensifying their crackdown on fictitious Foreign Investment (PMA) companies acting as guarantors for foreign nationals.
During a similar operation in July 2025, the Directorate General of Immigration inspected 2,022 foreign nationals across 2,098 monitoring points, with 294 individuals suspected of violating immigration regulations.
According to the Directorate General of Immigration, these operations reflect the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening oversight of foreign nationals residing in Indonesia.
“The supervision conducted by the Directorate General of Immigration ensures that only qualified foreign nationals are permitted to reside and operate in Indonesia. We must not allow our society to be disadvantaged by those who disregard the law or pose a potential threat to public order and national sovereignty,” Yusman concluded.
