Former Ministers Kwik Kian Gie and Rizal Ramli Summoned by KPK

Former coordinating ministers for economic, financial and industrial affairs, Kwik Kian Gie and Rizal Ramli have been summoned by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in relation to the misuse of funds from the Bank Indonesia liquidity support (BLBI).

“They will be examined as a witness for the suspect SJN (Sjamsul Nursalim),” said the commission spokesperson, Febri Diansyah.

The KPK had initially named Sjamsul and his wife, Itjih S. Nursalim, as suspects in the alleged graft case relating to the fulfilment of Bank Indonesia Liquidity Assistance’s (BLBI) obligation to Bank Restructuring Agency (BPPN), which caused a loss of Rp 4.58 trillion to the country.

The supreme court had earlier received a cassation by Syafruddin Arsyad Temenggung, former head of BPPN, who was named as a suspect in 2017. However, the KPK is determined to carry on with the investigation.
