KPU to File Report Against False Accusation

A video accusing the General Election Commission (KPU) of setting up a server in Singapore in order to help presidential candidate Joko Widodo and his running mate, Ma’ruf Amin to win the elections by 57 per cent, has gone viral. KPU commissioner, Hasyim Azhari, has denied the allegations.

“KPU has no server abroad, all servers are in the country. KPU is beset by the baseless accusation circulated via video footage and will file a report to the police’s criminal investigation unit,” Hasyim told reporters on Thursday.

Hasyim mentioned that there was an increase in the number of hoax new stories circulating ahead of the elections. He explained that the vote calculation process is carried out manually, step by step, starting in the voting stations (TPS), district polling committee (PPK), the KPU of the regency, the provincial KPU, until it the calculation finally arrives at the National KPU.

“The copy of the C1 Form (the voting result) is uploaded to the KPU website after the polling calculation is completed in the TPS,” Hasyim added. He encourages the public to guard the local voting stations, and if possible, stay to witness the calculation of votes. The TPS guard committee, voters, observers, and media must work hand in hand to eliminate fraud during elections. “All parties have chances to document the polling result in the Plano-C1 Form,” Hasyim added.
