Going beyond a symposium, Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan showcases advanced surgical techniques and provides hands-on cadaveric neurosurgery training through Mayapada Neuro Connect 2026.

Driving advances in the treatment of neurological and brain disorders in Indonesia through medical innovation and stronger multidisciplinary collaboration, Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan (MHJS), the flagship hospital under Mayapada Healthcare, held Mayapada Neuro Connect 2026 on the 24th–25th of October 2026.

Under the theme “From Mayapada for Indonesia”, the medical symposium and workshops featured 22 specialist and subspecialist doctors from Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan as speakers and attracted more than 2,000 doctors from across Indonesia. Going beyond knowledge-sharing, the event also featured demonstrations of minimally invasive neurosurgical techniques and robot-assisted procedures, as well as hands-on cadaveric neurosurgery training for specialist neurosurgeons. The event also provided a platform for sharing experiences of cross-specialty collaboration in managing complex neurological and brain conditions at Mayapada Hospital.

Hospital Director of Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan, Dr Fiktorius Kuludong, MM, said on a separate occasion that the spirit of “From Mayapada for Indonesia” continues to be realised through innovation, enhanced medical expertise and multidisciplinary collaboration to strengthen clinical capabilities and deliver internationally recognised healthcare services, including in neurology and neurosurgery.

“We have organised Mayapada Neuro Connect 2026 as a platform for doctors to update their knowledge, refine their skills, exchange clinical experiences and strengthen cross-specialty collaboration in managing various neurological and brain conditions, including complex cases. For us, innovation and advances in healthcare are determined not only by sophisticated medical technology, but also by the expertise of medical professionals, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the implementation of quality and patient safety standards. These are the principles we continue to uphold at MHJS as a hospital accredited by the international Joint Commission International (JCI),” explained Dr Fiktor.

This year, Mayapada Neuro Connect adopted the theme “Comprehensive Neurology Update: Advancing Neurological Care Through Innovation and Multidisciplinary Collaboration”. The programme covered developments in the diagnosis, treatment and management of various neurological and brain disorders, ranging from degenerative neurological diseases, stroke, sleep disorders and cerebrovascular conditions to spinal disorders, movement disorders, neurorestoration and diagnostic imaging (neuroimaging), including Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) technology.

These topics align with the development of the Tahir Neuroscience Center, a centre of excellence at Mayapada Hospital supported by a multidisciplinary medical team and state-of-the-art medical technology to manage neurological and brain conditions, including those requiring advanced neurosurgical procedures.

Dr Abdul Wahid Indrajaya, Sp.N, representing the Chair of the Indonesian Neurologists Association (Perhimpunan Dokter Spesialis Neurologi Indonesia, or PERDOSNI), also highlighted the importance of enhancing doctors’ expertise to address the challenges of treating neurological diseases in Indonesia, including stroke, which remains one of the leading causes of death.

“Stroke remains a major healthcare challenge in Indonesia, with approximately 337,000 deaths each year. This situation underscores the need to strengthen neurological services in Indonesia, supported not only by medical technology but also by doctors’ expertise and cross-disciplinary collaboration. We appreciate Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan’s continued efforts to develop its capabilities in treating neurological and brain conditions while providing learning opportunities through Mayapada Neuro Connect 2026.

“The active participation of doctors from across Indonesia demonstrates the significant demand for scientific forums that bring together advances in medical knowledge and practical clinical experience. Initiatives such as this are expected to contribute to improving the quality of neurological care in Indonesia,” he said.

Delivering the keynote address, Professor Dr Satyanegara, Sp.BS(K), a specialist neurosurgeon at Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan and Tangerang, explained that managing complex neurological and brain conditions requires precision in selecting clinical approaches, specialist medical expertise, and the support of technology and multidisciplinary collaboration.

“The successful treatment of stroke and complex neurological and brain conditions depends not only on medical interventions but also on the synergy of various areas of expertise to help patients maintain or recover bodily functions and quality of life.

“At Mayapada Hospital, collaboration between specialists and hospital units, including those in Jakarta Selatan and Tangerang, enables us to optimise the management of various neurological and brain conditions, from stroke emergencies to complex cases such as brain tumours treated using awake brain surgery and pituitary tumours treated through transnasal endoscopic surgery.

“Our goal is not only to achieve successful medical interventions but also to restore bodily functions and improve patients’ quality of life. We appreciate the collaborative ecosystem established by Mayapada Hospital to support the development of doctors’ expertise and achieve optimal clinical outcomes for patients,” explained Professor Satyanegara.

Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan has been recognised as a stroke-ready hospital by the World Stroke Organization (WSO), a global organisation that assesses the quality of stroke care worldwide. The WSO recognises Mayapada Hospital for its rapid stroke response through the internationally recognised Door-to-Needle protocol, accurate stroke examinations and diagnoses, treatment to support recovery and prevent recurrent strokes, structured medical record-keeping, and comprehensive care throughout hospitalisation.

This recognition demonstrates MHJS’s strong commitment to providing rapid, accurate and internationally aligned stroke care.

Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Mayapada Hospital Jakarta Selatan, Joyce Rahayu Kusumariyadi, emphasised that this international recognition reflects MHJS’s commitment to delivering healthcare services that meet global standards, supported by clinical excellence, state-of-the-art medical technology and emergency response readiness, including its 24/7 Stroke Emergency service.

“For us, international standards represent more than recognition; they are a commitment that every patient must experience directly through services that are prompt, accurate, safe and integrated.

“Supported by collaboration among doctors across specialities, the latest medical technology and emergency services available 24/7, we ensure that MHJS remains a trusted healthcare partner for patients, insurance partners, companies, communities and the wider public.

“In keeping with the spirit of ‘From Mayapada for Indonesia’, we will continue striving to deliver healthcare services that meet international standards here at home,” Joyce concluded.
