In anticipation of The Papandayan Jazz Fest (TPJF) 2026, TP Jazz Management hosted a press conference at The Club, Djakarta Theatre XXI, Jakarta, introducing the festival’s featured programs, special collaborations, and curatorial direction ahead of the event on October 3–4, 2026, at The Papandayan Bandung. Carrying the theme “Sound to the Soul,” this year’s festival will present more than 50 music programs across six festival areas.
The press conference was hosted by Nodi Nahadian and featured key speakers directly involved in the festival, including Tyagita R. Hermawan, Event Director of TP Jazz Management; Hari Pochang and Venche Manuhutu, festival curators; as well as performing artists Rieka Roslan and members of Lalahuta, Kevin Widaya and Boni Eko.
During the event, TP Jazz Management reaffirmed its commitment to preserving jazz as the festival’s core foundation while creating broader opportunities for collaboration across generations of musicians and audiences. This year, approximately 70 per cent of the festival’s programming is rooted in the jazz spectrum, ranging from traditional jazz and contemporary jazz to fusion and various cross-genre explorations that reflect the evolution of jazz today.
According to Tyagita R. Hermawan, TPJF 2026 has been designed as a celebration that goes beyond live performances.
“This year, we are presenting more collaborative projects, more space for artistic exploration, and more experiences for audiences to enjoy. TPJF is not only about who performs on stage, but also about how music can become a meeting point for communities, culture, creativity, and different generations,” she said.
Festival curators Hari Pochang and Venche Manuhutu explained that the curation of TPJF 2026 aims to showcase a broader and more contemporary face of jazz. This vision is reflected in several signature projects, including A Night of Frank Sinatra by Dwiki Dharmawan & Friends, Tribute to Koes Plus by The Gentlemen’s Club, Freedom Jazz Society feat. Rinni, and Barry Likumahuwa feat. TPJC Collective, a collaboration that brings together established jazz musicians and emerging talents from Indonesia’s jazz scene.
One of the most anticipated moments of the press conference was the appearance of Rieka Roslan and Lalahuta, who are set to perform together on the BRI Stage during the festival’s first day.
With her signature energy and charisma, Rieka promised festivalgoers an exciting performance.
“Make sure you wear comfortable shoes, because I guarantee it will be hard to stay still. We’ll be dancing, singing, and celebrating together. For me, TP Jazz has always been a wonderful reason to come home to Bandung. So many memories and creative works were born in this city. What makes TP Jazz special is the trust they place in musicians. They never impose strict concepts or tell us exactly what we should perform. Instead, they give us the freedom to create the most honest and authentic performance possible. That kind of creative freedom is incredibly valuable for artists,” said Rieka Roslan.
Her remarks reflect the spirit that has long defined TP Jazz—giving musicians the creative freedom to develop unique, personal artistic concepts. This approach has become one of the reasons why many artists continue to return and participate in TP Jazz programs year after year.
The press conference also highlighted several key programs of TPJF 2026, including the presentation of the TPJF Lifetime Achievement Award to legendary Indonesian group BIMBO, the introduction of the Mojang Jajaka Stage in collaboration with the Bandung Office of Culture and Tourism, and Pasar Jazz, a creative marketplace featuring dozens of tenants from the culinary, fashion, lifestyle, music, and creative industries.
TPJF 2026 will feature six festival areas: Kota Baru Parahyangan Stage, BRI Stage, RON88 Stage, TP Stage, Mojang Jajaka Stage, and Pasar Jazz. The festival lineup includes Mahalini, Ruth Sahanaya, Diskoria feat. Andien, Dwiki Dharmawan & Friends, SimakDialog, Andre Dinuth Group feat. Matthew Sayersz, Rafi Sudirman, T-Five x Melly Mono, Batavia Collective, Reyharp feat. Balawan Project, Arumtala, Ambon Jazz Rock by Barry Likumahuwa, along with dozens of other musicians and community groups.
The press conference concluded with a luncheon attended by media representatives, creating an opportunity for journalists to engage directly with the speakers while strengthening the longstanding relationship between TP Jazz Management and the media partners that have supported The Papandayan Jazz Fest throughout its journey.
Under the theme “Sound to the Soul,” TPJF 2026 once again reinforces its position as a festival that goes beyond entertainment—serving as a platform for collaboration, regeneration, and musical appreciation that continues to evolve year after year.
