The tourism sector in West Nusa Tenggara recorded an increase in foreign tourist visits in July 2026, with 9,039 foreign tourist arrivals through Lombok International Airport in July 2026, while hotels across the province accommodated more than 136,000 foreign tourists during the month.

On Tuesday, the 1st of September, the West Nusa Tenggara branch of the Statistics Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistik or BPS) agency released data comparing the number of foreign tourist arrivals via official airport entry points with the actual number of foreign tourists recorded as staying in various hotel accommodations. According to its report, the number of foreign tourists officially arriving at Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport (BIZAM) in July 2026 totalled 9,039.

The Head of the West Nusa Tenggara branch of the Statistics Indonesia agency, Wahyudin, stated that foreign tourist visits via Lombok International Airport rose by 29.50% compared to June 2026, when the figure stood at 6,980. He explained that this rise in foreign tourist visits was driven by a 118% increase in tourists from Europe.

The increase in foreign tourist visits via Lombok International Airport was primarily driven by a rise in tourists from the European region. The number of European tourists rose from 2,428 in June 2026 to 5,293 in July 2026—an increase of 118%,” he said on Tuesday.

Although this figure represents month-on-month growth compared to June 2026, the performance of the province’s main air entry point actually fell by 14.01% year-on-year compared to the July 2025 figure of 10,512 arrivals.

The total number of foreign tourists visiting West Nusa Tenggara who actually booked hotel rooms—whether in star-rated or non-star-rated establishments—reached 136,318 in July 2026. Of that figure, 58,775 foreign tourists chose star-rated hotels for their stay, with an average duration of less than two days—to be more exact, 1.98 days. Meanwhile, another 77,543 foreign tourists opted for non-star-rated hotels and similar types of accommodation, recording an average stay of 1.63 days.

In addition to foreign tourists, Wahyudin noted that domestic tourist visits to West Nusa Tenggara also rose by 3.05% in July 2026. Statistics Indonesia recorded the number of domestic tourists visiting the province at 1,410,478 for that month.
