Banyuwangi’s Boom Marina will soon have an Immigration Checkpoint, allowing yachts to dock directly without processing permits in Bali. This initiative aims to enhance international tourism and extend visitor stays.

The Boom Marina pier in Banyuwangi currently serves as a docking point for yachts from various countries. However, yachts requiring permits must still go through the Immigration Checkpoint in Tanjung Benoa, Bali.

With the establishment of an Immigration Checkpoint at Boom Marina, these yachts will no longer need to process their permits in Bali and will be able to dock directly in Banyuwangi.

“With the opening of the Immigration Checkpoint at Boom Marina, yacht owners will be able to complete the necessary procedures in Banyuwangi,” said the Regent of Banyuwangi, Ipuk Fiestiandani, as quoted from the press on Tuesday, the 11th of March.

It is hoped that the presence of the Immigration Checkpoint in the Boom Marina area will boost the development of international tourism in Banyuwangi. Foreign tourists arriving by yacht will be able to enter directly without needing to dock in Bali first. Additionally, this could significantly extend their length of stay in Banyuwangi.

The Acting Head of the Banyuwangi Class III Immigration Office, Eko Juniarto, stated that his office had submitted a request to the Directorate General of Immigration to designate Boom Marina as a special port for docking yachts equipped with an Immigration Checkpoint.

“Thank God we have received support, and hopefully, the official decree will be issued soon,” said Juniarto.

Furthermore, Juniarto outlined several other initiatives planned by the Immigration Office for the year 2025, including outreach services for passport processing for individuals who got sick.

“For example, if a patient requires treatment abroad, we can facilitate passport photo-taking and interviews at their location, whether at home or in the hospital,” explained Juniarto.

In addition, the Immigration Office plans to open passport services on weekends and establish an information centre programme for foreign nationals. This programme will include a consultation booth set up in public spaces.

“We plan to provide consultation services for foreign visitors during international events held in Banyuwangi,” he added.
