LRT Ticket Fare Proposed at Rp10,800

LRT ticket fare

The Jakarta Transportation Council (DTKJ) has proposed a fare of Rp 10,800 (73 US cents) for the light rapid transit (LRT), which will be integrated with city-owned bus operator PT Transjakarta.

With the integration, LRT passengers will not have to pay again if they wish to continue their commute using a Transjakarta bus, according to Allan Tandiono, director of city-owned construction company PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro).

DTKJ proposed the fare after considering the passengers’ ability and willingness to pay, he added.

“The Jakarta administration and the City Council will consider the proposal and set the trip fare,” Allan said on Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.

The 5.8-kilometer LRT, which connects Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta to the Jakarta International Velodrome in Rawamangun, East Jakarta, is scheduled to start operating in early 2019.

The Jakarta administration previously targeted to have the system up and running before the 18th Asian Games, but the project was hampered by unexpected rainfall and construction accidents, among other factors.
