Jakarta Deputy Governor Rano Karno inaugurated two Open Top Tour of Jakarta buses with a new route titled “Jakarta Heritage.”

This route passes through various historical landmarks, including the Philatelic Building, Pasar Baru, the Jakarta Arts Building, Banteng Square, the Istiqlal Mosque, the Cathedral, and the State Palace. This urban tourism service offers a historical experience, allowing visitors to explore Jakarta along a route that highlights the capital’s iconic heritage sites.

“With this new route, residents and tourists can experience travelling around Jakarta in a more comfortable and memorable way,” Karno said to the press on Friday, the 3rd of October.

The Open Top Tour of Jakarta programme was initiated by Transjakarta as an effort to strengthen the role of public transportation and promote Jakarta’s identity and character globally.

The development of the Open Top Tour of Jakarta service is an innovation that combines public mobility with the tourism sector, so that it can be enjoyed by both the public and tourists. With this service, residents and tourists can experience exploring Jakarta more memorably and comfortably,” Karno also explained.

Karno furthermore hopes that the “Jakarta Heritage” route will revitalise the Pasar Baru area, in particular, as a hub of city activity with historical, economic, and cultural value. This way, Jakarta will not only be known as a metropolitan city but also as a city proud of its heritage. The “Jakarta Heritage” route complements the previous route, Jakarta Skyline, which highlights panoramic views of skyscrapers in the Sudirman–MH Thamrin area.

“Hopefully, this new route will further strengthen Jakarta’s tourism and provide a memorable experience for everyone who uses it. Let’s maintain and make the most of this service as a demonstration of our pride in Jakarta,” he added.

Tickets for the “Jakarta Heritage” route are available for booking starting today, with the first scheduled departure on the 6th of October 2025. Reservations can be made through the Transjakarta app.
