Passenger traffic at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport rose by 5.5% in Q1 2026, driven by strong holiday demand and major domestic and international routes.
The General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Heru Karyadi, divulged that the recorded passenger movements in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026 reached 13,492,421 people. This figure represents an increase of approximately 5.5% compared to the same period last year, which recorded 12,783,331 passengers.
“Throughout the first three months of this year, the number of departing passengers was recorded at 6.73 million passengers and arriving passengers at 6.76 million passengers,” he explained in a statement to the press on Monday, the 13th of April.
Karyadi also stated that total aircraft movements recorded a 6.8% increase in Q1 this year, from 86,777 flights to 92,710 flights. According to him, this rise in traffic is in line with the growing demand for air travel at the beginning of the year.
“This increase in flight traffic is in line with the growing demand for flights during the Christmas and New Year holidays in January 2026, as well as Eid al-Fitr transportation in March 2026,” he said.
Moreover, Karyadi stated that the favourite flight routes in the first three months of this year were still dominated by major domestic routes, such as Jakarta–Denpasar, Jakarta–Kualanamu, and Jakarta–Surabaya. Meanwhile, on international routes, flight traffic has been dominated by Jakarta–Singapore, Jakarta–Kuala Lumpur, and Jakarta–Jeddah.
Responding to these figures, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport remains committed to improving service quality and strengthening operational reliability to provide the best experience for passengers.
“In the second quarter of 2026, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport will focus on serving prospective Hajj pilgrims during the Hajj transportation period, as well as services during school holidays,” Karyadi divulged.
Meanwhile, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali successfully served 1.14 million passengers during the 18-day Eid al-Fitr 2026 transportation period. These passengers consisted of 503,000 domestic passengers and 639,000 international passengers, which ultimately represent a 1% increase compared to the 2025 Eid al-Fitr Transportation Post period, which saw 1.13 million passengers.
The figures for the first three months of the year 2026, however, have yet to be officially divulged.
“During the 18-day integrated transportation post period from the 13th to 30th of March, 2026, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, as the airport operator, recorded a total of 1.14 million passengers,” the General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Nugroho Jati, previously noted on Tuesday, the 31st of March.
